Bridesmaids Luncheon

So it has been quite the task to find a place that would host parties on New Years Day... I didn't think about those types of details when I set the wedding for Jan 2nd. We're keeping the plan for the rehearsal dinner super easy and it at the hotel where the reception will be the following evening. Done. A harder thing to schedule was the bridesmaids luncheon... I think I called EVERY restuarant in the town and got a big "we're not open" before my wonderful MOH suggested the Belle Grae Inn -- a super cute inn & restuarant. They are putting together a very nice luncheon for us for New Years Day and I couldn't be more excited. What a cute lil place!

Ceremony Decorations

To decorate the church for the ceremony, I am going to decorate the end of every other pew (or every third pew, we'll see) with lovely ivory rose pomander balls with burgandy ribbon like below. I think it will make the center aisle really stand out and look lovely, but will not be overbearing to the other decorations in the church, which include the Church's Christmas tree.

Flowers are officially ordered!

More progress has been made. I officially put in my flower order for the bouquets, bouts, & corsages. I did end up going with the bridal bouquet as shown in my last post. Then, BMs will carry ivory calla lilies like below. Mothers & Grandmothers will also wear ivory calla lily corsages.

Then, P will wear a eggplant calla lily bout to match the calla lilies in my bouquet, like below. The guys will all wear ivory calla lily bouts to match the BMs.

{inspiration} Bridal Bouquet

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bridal bouquet... I think mine will definitely be inspired by this.... feathers and all!

Men's attire

Given our new colors (wine & eggplant instead of Red), below is the attire we've decided on for the guys. Simple and will fit in nicely with the decor of the ceremony site as well as season.

Changes

So I think we've made some changes to our original plan of black, white & red wedding. We've moved our ceremony to the Staunton First Presbyterian Church which is burgandy indoors. In order not to clash, and to add some depth to the location, we're ensuring that our reds are always a deep wine/burgandy, and we're also adding eggplant purple to the scheme. With that said, I have a lot of work to do to figure out where/how these accents fit together and start ordering!

Cake Favorite

So I've been trying to narrow down which cakes I like most and I think I have come to my decision of the winner... the lead cake..... the blueprint for my cake is revealed below. :)
It's simple, elegant and incorporates 3 things i love: ribbon, pearls, and monograms!

Handmuffs instead of bouquets?

OK, tell me all, what do you think about bridesmaids carrying handmuffs instead of bouquets? Might be a fun and unique alternative for a winter wedding, yes?

Winter Cape

Every winter bride needs a winter cape! Check out this lovely one by Spazooie on Etsy. I think it's super cute and adds a lovely feel to winter nuptials.

Sorry for the absence!

Sorry it's been a while since I posted.. I have been traveling for work and then I've been away for my fiance's brother's wedding in NC this weekend. It was a BEAUTIFUL outdoor wedding and everything went along lovely. I definitely got some inspiration from the wedding, so I'll be updating soon!!
